Dogs’ saliva contains bacteria that may not be completely eliminated through regular dishwashing. To effectively disinfect dog-licked utensils, follow these steps:
- Separate dog-licked utensils from others to avoid cross-contamination.
- Pre-soak utensils in a mixture of hot water and dish soap for 10-15 minutes.
- Scrub utensils with a brush under running water to remove visible residue.
- Prepare a solution of 1 part bleach to 9 parts water in a separate basin.
- Soak the utensils in the bleach solution for 1 minute.
- Rinse the utensils thoroughly with hot water to remove any remaining bleach.
- Allow the utensils to air dry or use a clean towel.
